Shalom! It’s a good day! Sssshhhh baka may natutulog pa po…..
I’m a loud guy—a former cursing, shouting and emphatic noisy guy. I make it a point that I am being heard to be known, even if a non-sense word is coming from
my big mouth. I was a market vendor in those days, that’s why I talked a lot….”pag masyado kang timid, wala kang benta…worse malulugi ka pa” No extra money for extra activities…. Hehehe. ‘Just shout your goods “kahit papaano”….”Ale sitaw” made in Japan….”ayus na yun! Mamaya may maglalapitang buyers nakangiti pa! oh divah?, Tapos, Ale kalabasa, lagkitan..kahit kinulayan lang” tsk tsk tsk…those were the ways then, those were my market days!
Then, in recent years, I tend to become a little quiet…..”kasi” I was able to get a personal music player. A player that my friends always warned me that I will possibly loose my
hearing for always using such. As the long term exposure “daw” for music at high volume has been shown to cause hearing impairment. Well, in a nutshell…I learned as well that too much hearing can result to an inability to hear. “Ano ba yan?” So…”dadaldal na lang ako ng non-sensible jokes…hehehe ganun ba yun?!”(smiles)
We live in a world filled with noise…., those noises that are designed to sell, plead, seduce and deceive.
And in the midst of this confusing desires and cacophony of sound (tama ba spelling ko? Hahaha), it is easy to miss the one Voice that matters most. Parang.., it goes with anyone in the darkness or wherever, to sing about hope, about love…, a real Big Voice to convict if we’ll just listen and listen well. Hmmm…
Elijah had listened to Jezebel’s threats and the voice of his own fear, so he fled to a cave and hide. In the cave, he was confronted with the overwhelming noise of wind, an earthquake and fire. (OT Kings write ups) Then the cave grew silent and the voice of the Lord—-the only sound that mattered—broke through as a still small voice. Hmmm…
If we are to hear God’s speaking to our hearts through His Word, we need to pull away from the noise of the crowd. Only when we learn to be quiet and be still, can we really understand what it means to commune with the God who truly cares for us. For the Lord in His stillness poured many ideas to those who wait and listen with expectancy.
So…turn down the world’s volume. ‘Will yah? Hmmmmm… won’t you be quiet please…… (Ssssh, secret ha, I need this…very much!)
Shalom everyone!
